Primitive Natural Modern Primitive Natural Modern Primitive Natural Modern A very early Mid-Century Modern free-edge slab coffee made form an entire 2"+in thick solid section of cherry or walnut. Natural biomorphic shape with a free edge. A very early example of modernism, that makes a stunning presence in any room. The three legged flattened conical leg gives the piece a nice floating presence, similar to pieces by Carl Aubock. This type of vintage modern primitive mixes well with Noguchi, Vladimir Kagan, George Nakashima, and California Design. Also, a nice natural piece can soften the hard edges of other modernist furnishings. Measures an overall length of 70 inches, at its widest point the width is 21 inches, at the other end it's about 10 inches. Piece is 18 inches tall, and a massive 2 inches thick. Natural ring separation at the central whorl adds a fascinating detail.
